These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Compliant Copy for Supplements (“the App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
What the App does
The App generates product copy for supplement products in your Shopify store and checks it against compliance criteria from the FDA’s Small Entity Compliance Guide for Structure-Function Claims. It then publishes the chosen copy to your Shopify products on your command.
What the App does not do
The App does not provide legal advice. It is a tool that catches the most common FDA structure-function violations using FDA’s published criteria. It is not a substitute for professional FDA compliance review. You are solely responsible for the legal compliance of the product copy on your store, including copy generated or modified by the App.
The App is not a regulated medical device, is not affiliated with the FDA, and makes no claim of completeness in detecting compliance violations.
Your responsibilities
By using the App, you confirm that:
- You have authority to install apps and modify product content on the Shopify store you are connecting.
- You are responsible for reviewing all copy generated by the App before publishing it to your store.
- You will not use the App to generate copy for products outside its intended scope (dietary supplements). Performance and compliance accuracy outside this scope are not guaranteed.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or resell the App or its compliance engine.
Subscription and billing
- The App is a paid subscription service billed through Shopify. By starting a subscription, you authorize Shopify to charge you the displayed amount on a recurring monthly basis.
- A 7-day free trial is provided once per shop on your first subscription.
- Plan generation limits reset at the start of each billing period.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time from the App’s Billing page or from your Shopify admin. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact hownigzu@gmail.com.
AI-generated content
- Copy generated by the App is produced by AI (Anthropic’s Claude language model) and checked by a deterministic rule engine plus an AI compliance reviewer.
- AI-generated copy is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that any specific generation will be accurate, compliant, or suitable for your products.
- You retain ownership of any copy generated for your products. Once published to your store, the copy is yours to use, modify, or remove.
Service availability
We aim to keep the App running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Outages, errors, or temporary unavailability of the App or of Anthropic’s API may affect your ability to generate copy. We are not liable for damages caused by service interruptions.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost profits, lost revenue, or regulatory penalties resulting from product copy on your store.
- Our total liability to you under these Terms is limited to the total amount you have paid to use the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Termination
- You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the App in a way that creates risk for the App, Shopify, or other merchants.
- Upon termination, the data deletion terms in our Privacy Policy apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App’s interface. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
